Topic Aesthetics

In The Aesthetics of Imagination in Design by Mads Folkman, he presents three conditions of design, the possible, the aesthetic, and the imagination.

The Possible → Structure of meaning within the object, which acts as an interface with the world

The Aesthetic → Sensual, conceptual, and contextual codes through which objects communicate

The Imagination → Central formative power behind the life and design of objects

Folkman also raises the idea of a seen and unseen aesthetic of objects. I think it would be advantages to look at work by Graham Harmon in which he talks about the topic of Object Oriented Ontology. In it Harmon suggests that objects have their own consciousness and that we project our own voices on to them to give them an alternative meaning.
