Fatal Force Signal Date: April 11, 2018 Category Experiment Topic Physical Computing Fatal Force Signal is a paper gun that (in theory) will respond to reports of gunshots fired in a given location. The technology is based on Google’s Paper Signals project and Voice API. By asking the Google Voice assistant to ‘Track shootings in Washington DC’ the gun will move the bullet everytime there is a reported shooting. To do this, I have connected the microcontroller to the twitter API to search through Washington DC’s (or a given city police department’s) tweets for reports of shots fired. The goal of this project is to contextualize gun violence in America in terms of time and frequency.
